US Open Prize Money Jumps 20 Percent to Rs 1,033 Crore; Singles Champion to Take Home Rs 52 Crore

New York: The organisers of the US Open have announced a major increase in prize money for this year's tournament, with the total purse rising to Rs 1,033 crore — a 20 percent jump over last year. Singles champions will take home Rs 52 crore, up from Rs 47.85 crore last year. The tournament begins on August 30, with mixed doubles getting under way on Monday.

Singles runners-up will receive Rs 26.79 crore, while first-round losers are guaranteed Rs 1.33 crore. Doubles winners will share Rs 9.57 crore. The US Open remains the highest-paying Grand Slam in tennis.

Serena Teams Up with Alcaraz in Mixed Doubles

In a much-anticipated comeback, Serena Williams will return to competitive tennis after a four-year absence, partnering Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz in the mixed doubles on a wildcard entry. It will be Serena's first appearance at the US Open since 2022. The 23-time Grand Slam winner, who has claimed the singles title here six times, also won the mixed doubles title in 1998 alongside Max Mirnyi. Alcaraz is the reigning men's singles champion.

Women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka will pair with former men's world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the mixed doubles.
