Kolkata: In the T20 World Cup, South Africa scored 187 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Corbin Bosch was the last man to get out, caught off Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery. India now needs 188 runs to win in 20 overs.

India had a tremendous start but lost their rhythm in the middle overs. South Africa scored 25 runs while losing three early wickets. However, the partnership between Dewald Brevis and David Miller rescued the innings.

Although South Africa lost their first three wickets early, the partnership between Brevis and Miller allowed them to attack the subsequent bowlers effectively. With massive sixes and powerful boundaries, the duo rapidly propelled South Africa’s score. By the end of the fifth over, their fourth-wicket partnership had already taken the team from a precarious three-wicket position to 117 runs.

This partnership ended when Abhishek Sharma took a catch off Shivam Dubey’s delivery. The crucial 117-run fourth-wicket stand formed the backbone of South Africa’s strong total.

Meanwhile, Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh gave India a good start, but the bowlers who followed failed to maintain the rhythm. Varun Chakravarthy conceded 39 runs in three overs, while Shivam Dubey gave away 29 runs in two overs, taking one wicket. Hardik Pandya went for 25 runs in three overs, and Washington Sundar conceded 17 runs in two overs.

When the score reached 152, Miller was dismissed. Following him, Marco Jansen fell for 158, caught by Rinku Singh off Arshdeep Singh’s delivery.

After the 15th over, when Bumrah and Arshdeep returned to bowl, India managed to strike back. Both Bumrah and Arshdeep took two wickets each, putting South Africa under pressure once again.
