Asian Games 2026: Anahat Singh, Abhay Singh Win Silver in Squash Singles

Nagoya: India’s Anahat Singh won the silver medal in women’s singles squash at the Asian Games. Although the 18-year-old lost to Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in the final, she achieved a historic feat.

Anahat became the first Indian squash player to win a silver medal in the women’s singles event at the Asian Games. She put up a strong fight against Sivasangari in the final but could not stop the Malaysian player’s advance.

It was India’s second silver medal in squash at the Asian Games. Earlier, Abhay Singh had won silver in the men’s singles squash event. He lost to Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow in the final. Abhay had made a strong start and at one stage led 4–2, but a series of errors allowed Eain Yow to make a comeback.

The Malaysian player took a 6–5 lead at a crucial stage before taking control of the match. Abhay faced reigning Asian Games champion Eain Yow in the final, as India secured the silver medal in men’s singles squash.

Abhay reached the final after defeating Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan 11–3, 12–10, 11–6 in straight games in the semifinals. He became the second Indian player to reach the men’s singles squash final at the Asian Games.
