Chennai: The final revised electoral roll in Tamil Nadu will be published on February 23 following the SIR, Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik has announced.

In compliance with a recent Supreme Court order, the Election Commission has directed that details of individuals with discrepancies in the voter list be placed in the public domain to ensure transparency.

According to a directive issued on January 30, the list of voters with identified discrepancies must be displayed at public offices, including gram panchayat offices, taluk and sub-division offices, and ward offices in urban areas. The move is aimed at rectifying errors in the electoral roll and enhancing public scrutiny.

As per the Commission’s instructions, once the list of individuals with discrepancies is published, a 10-day window will be provided for them to submit supporting documents or file objections. These may be submitted either in person or through authorized representatives, including Booth Level Agents (BLAs).

The Election Commission has clarified that objections must be accompanied by a clear explanation addressing the discrepancies noted in the list.
