Agra: Tourists visiting the Taj Mahal have been left disappointed as dense fog and extreme cold conditions across north India have severely reduced visibility, leaving the iconic monument almost completely obscured.

Hundreds of domestic and international tourists who arrived early in the morning to photograph and admire the world-famous symbol of love were forced to return without catching a clear glimpse of it. For the past few days, visibility in Agra and surrounding regions has dropped sharply, officials said.

Even visitors who reached the main gateway of the Taj Mahal during early hours found it impossible to see the monument clearly. The situation has worsened due to smog caused by a combination of cold weather and air pollution.

Air pollution drifting from Delhi and neighbouring states has further affected Agra’s atmosphere, contributing to the thick smog enveloping the city. Weather authorities have warned that similar conditions are likely to persist in the coming days.

The poor visibility has also raised concerns within the tourism sector. Many visitors, despite waiting in queues for hours and purchasing tickets, are unable to enjoy the architectural beauty of the monument, leading to growing frustration among tourists and tour operators alike.

With winter intensifying across north India, authorities are closely monitoring weather and pollution levels as the iconic landmark remains hidden behind a curtain of fog.
