Bail Granted to Swatantra Bharadwaj in Jantar Mantar Assault Case

New Delhi: Swatantra Bharadwaj, a Hindutva extremist accused of assaulting and seriously injuring the father of a student activist during the student protest at Jantar Mantar, has been granted bail. The Patiala House Court granted him bail.
Bharadwaj had been granted three weeks' interim bail on September 15. The court has now granted him bail, noting that he had not violated the conditions imposed during the interim bail period.
One of the bail conditions prohibits him from posting on social media or giving interviews related to the case. Bharadwaj was arrested by police in Uttar Pradesh on September 5 and was subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
Bharadwaj had spoken with pride on a podcast about smashing the head of Sanjay, the father of Nishu Azad, who had participated in the NEET protest. Following this, CJP leaders laid siege to the Parliament Street police station. He was subsequently arrested and serious charges were imposed against him.
