New Delhi: The strategically vital Strait of Hormuz is returning to normalcy following the lifting of the US naval blockade, with the first LNG tanker bound for India set to arrive at Dahej port in Gujarat today. The vessel had been stranded in the region for over three months due to the conflict in West Asia.

The ship carries 62,370 metric tonnes of liquefied natural gas — a consignment of critical importance to India's energy supply. With the first vessel having successfully navigated the route, 34 other Indian ships carrying fuel and fertiliser that had been similarly stranded in the region are now preparing to depart for India as swiftly as possible.

The Central government is monitoring the safe return of the vessels with heightened vigilance, particularly in the wake of the deaths of three Indian sailors in a US attack off the Oman coast. The safe arrival of these ships is expected to bring significant relief to the severe energy crisis India has been facing since the start of the war.
