Public Sector, Rural Banks to Remain Open on Sunday Ahead of Three-Day Strike

New Delhi: Banks across the country will remain open today (Sunday). The Union Finance Ministry has ordered all public sector banks and regional rural banks to operate on Sunday to reduce inconvenience to customers ahead of the three-day strike announced by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) from September 28 to 30.

All public sector banks and regional rural banks will function as usual today. The move is aimed at avoiding a prolonged disruption to banking services due to the three-day strike. The Reserve Bank of India has permitted bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and currency chests to operate fully.

Banks will resume normal operations on October 1 after the three-day strike. October 2 will be a public holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
