New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing another major controversy following the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination over an alleged question paper leak. This time, candidates have raised serious allegations of irregularities after the declaration of results for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance examination, the national-level test for admission to fashion technology courses.
Students claim that the scorecards, attendance records, and overall conduct of the examination, the results of which were announced on June 3, contain significant discrepancies. Candidates have been sharing their experiences and concerns through social media platforms such as Reddit and Instagram.
According to the students, even candidates who are confident they performed exceptionally well in the examination were awarded fewer than ten marks in the Situation Test. Several candidates who actually appeared for the exam have reportedly been marked as "absent" on their scorecards.
At the same time, some students who did not attend the Situation Test, a component of the B.Des (Bachelor of Design) entrance examination, allegedly received marks. Students have shared scorecards online as evidence to support these claims. Candidates have also alleged that proper photo and biometric verification procedures were not carried out at examination centers, increasing the possibility of impersonation and fraudulent participation in the test.
The NTA had already come under scrutiny following the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 due to a question paper leak, complaints regarding the CBSE's on-screen marking system, and technical disruptions during the CUET-UG examination held on May 30.
The NIFT examination results have now added to the growing controversy surrounding the agency. Students argue that the results have been prepared in a manner that jeopardizes their future and that they have not received the marks they rightfully earned despite their hard work and preparation.
Candidates and parents are demanding a thorough review of the results and an audit of attendance records. However, the NTA has not yet responded to the latest allegations raised by the candidates.
