Delhi High Court Orders Restoration of Cockroach Janta Party's X Account

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed that the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) X account be restored after it had remained withheld in India since May, bringing an end to a legal challenge mounted by the group's founder, Abhijeet Dipke.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma allowed the petition after the Centre informed the court that the circumstances leading to the blocking of the account no longer existed.
Appearing for the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the account had been withheld to avoid "chaos" among students and parents ahead of the June 21 NEET re-test. Observing that the concern cited by the Centre was no longer relevant, the court revoked the blocking order and disposed of the petition.
The CJP's original X account was launched on May 15 as a satirical online platform in the wake of a controversy surrounding remarks attributed to Surya Kant. The account was withheld in India six days later.
Following the suspension, the group created a new account, "Cockroach is Back," which has since attracted more than 2.27 lakh followers and has been used to continue its online campaign.
The organisation has drawn attention for using the "cockroach" as a symbol of protest and has positioned itself as a youth-led movement advocating greater accountability on education-related issues. It has also been campaigning for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and what it describes as broader failures in the education system.
