Patna: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday released its manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, highlighting employment generation, social justice, and the fight against corruption as key priorities.

Senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat, while unveiling the manifesto, strongly criticised the ruling NDA for running what she described as a “negative campaign” aimed at discrediting opposition leaders instead of addressing people’s issues.

“The NDA has been running a negative campaign, pointing fingers at the opposition — perhaps inevitable since they have nothing to showcase as achievements in the two decades they have ruled Bihar,” Brinda Karat said.

Referring to the killing of Jan Suraaj Party supporter Dular Chand Yadav in Mokama, where supporters have alleged the involvement of local JD(U) candidate and former MLA Anant Singh, Brinda Karat said the incident exposed the deep-rooted lawlessness under the present regime.

“This is proof that mafia raj and jungle raj prevail in Bihar under NDA rule. Lawlessness is not something the INDIA alliance will bring to the state,” she said.

Brinda Karat also condemned the “irresponsible statements” of BJP leaders, expressing shock over Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s remarks calling Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi “an agent of Pakistan.”

“It is appalling that BJP leaders are saying whatever they wish without reflection. Such remarks about someone whose family has long served the public are unacceptable,” she said.

Brinda Karat emphasized that the CPI(M) manifesto was in line with the INDIA bloc's commitment to ensuring employment generation in Bihar, from where "people are forced to migrate in search of livelihood to places like Gujarat, where they are denied even the minimum daily wage fixed by the government".
