New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-driven digital movement is set to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar after receiving permission from Delhi Police, according to the group's founder Abhijeet Dipke.
Dipke, who arrived in the national capital from the United States on Saturday morning, announced that supporters could proceed directly to the protest venue, eliminating the earlier plan to gather at Parliament Street Police Station to seek official clearance. In a message shared on social media, he urged participants to conduct the demonstration peacefully, carry the national flag and a book, and treat police personnel with respect by offering them flowers.
The protest has been organised to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and lapses in examinations including NEET, CBSE Board examinations, CUET and SSC. What began as an online satirical campaign against Supreme Court Chief Justice Surya Kant's comment has evolved into a coordinated movement that has attracted significant support, particularly among students and young people.
Anticipating large crowds, authorities have put extensive security arrangements in place across Delhi. More than 1,000 police personnel, supported by around 40 companies of paramilitary forces, have been deployed at strategic locations. Security has been heightened at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, railway stations, inter-state bus terminals, border checkpoints and sensitive areas across the city.
Senior police officers have been assigned supervisory duties, while reserve forces remain on standby. Barricades have been erected at key points, vehicle checks intensified, and surveillance of social media activity stepped up. Officials have also increased security around the residence of the Union Education Minister.
Police said metro services would continue normally and maintained that adequate measures were in place to ensure public safety and prevent any disruption. Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court on Friday declined an urgent hearing on a petition expressing concerns over law and order during the planned demonstration.
