New Delhi: West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has alleged that he was not allowed to offer floral tributes at the Mannam Samadhi. Ananda Bose made this remark while speaking at the Mannam Jayanti celebrations organized by the NSS in Delhi. He said that he faced this neglect when he visited the samadhi to offer flowers before assuming office as Governor.

“The Mannam Memorial belongs to all members of the Nair community. People do not come to Perunna to see a gatekeeper. Isn’t offering floral tributes at Mannam’s samadhi a right of the Nair community? Does one person alone have proprietary rights over it?” Ananda Bose asked.

The West Bengal Governor also stated that a memorial for Mannath Padmanabhan should be built in Delhi, and announced that he would donate one month’s salary towards the construction of the memorial.
