Four Killed, 16 Injured in Tourist Cab-Bus Collision on Srinagar-Leh Highway

Srinagar: Four people, including three tourists and a local cab driver, were killed, and 16 others injured in a road accident in the Gund area of North Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday. The accident occurred on the Srinagar-Leh Highway when a cab carrying tourists collided with a bus, resulting in multiple casualties. "Three tourists and a local cab driver lost their lives in the accident," an official confirmed.
The deceased have been identified as Hetal Ashish Pari, Nikki Ashish, and Leisha Ashish, all residents of Satya Nagar, Borivali West, Mumbai. The fourth victim was the cab driver, Faheem Ahmad Badyari, a local from Soiteng, Srinagar.
Following the collision, CRPF personnel and local volunteers launched a rescue operation, shifting the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed their condolences to the victims' families.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shared his grief on the social media platform X, writing, “Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on the highway near Gund, Kangan, which has claimed several lives and left many others injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance.”
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives in this tragic accident. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families. I am praying for the early recovery of the injured," said Lieutenant Governor Sinha in his condolence message.
CPI(M) MLA M.Y. Tarigami expressed his shock over the incident and called for free-of-cost treatment for the injured, along with compensation for the families of the deceased.
