Thiruvananthapuram: Damaging data from the Congress party's 'Stand With Wayanad' app — launched to collect funds for building houses for Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide victims but subsequently taken offline — has been made public by IT expert Rajith Ramachandran through a detailed Facebook post, revealing serious discrepancies between the figures the party released publicly and what the app's own records show.

According to Rajith, the app recorded a total of ₹3,78,68,718 collected through 22,702 successful transactions. However, the district-wise breakdown throws up inexplicable figures — most districts, including Ernakulam, show collections of less than ₹15 lakh, while Congress strongholds such as Kottayam recorded under ₹4 lakh. Large donations from service organisations and diaspora groups are entirely absent from the app's records, and the complete data for September 2024 has vanished — the entire month's transactions are missing. While records of two offline collections of ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh appear in the app, the publicly released figures and the app's internal figures bear no correspondence to each other, though their totals curiously match.

The revelations come against a backdrop of already mounting contradictions. KPCC President Sunny Joseph had previously stated that only ₹5.38 crore reached the party's account despite nationwide and overseas collections — a figure widely considered implausible given that Congress circles had indicated collections of around ₹150 crore. Screenshots circulating on social media showed the app itself recording over ₹54 crore in receipts.

Congress leaders K Sudhakaran and V D Satheesan had announced on August 3, 2024 — three days after the midnight disaster on July 31 — that the party would independently build 100 houses without cooperating with the government. The fundraising app was launched on August 21. Contributions reportedly poured in from Congress units across states, diaspora organisations, MPs, MLAs, other elected representatives, and service organisations.

The disclosures have deepened questions over the accountability and transparency of the funds collected in the name of disaster victims.
