UDF Government Spent Over Rs 157 Crore on PRD Advertisements (2011-2016)

Thiruvananthapuram: Figures show that the UDF government spent more than Rs 157 crore on PRD advertisements alone during its five-year tenure from 2011 to 2016. This expenditure on advertisements was in addition to the additional costs incurred for various government campaigns.


These figures were clarified in the assembly in response to a question by K.V. Abdul Khader. It was also clarified in the House that the LDF government had paid Rs 41.83 crore in advertising dues. The Oommen Chandy government ended its rule by paying this amount in arrears. The LDF government, which came to power subsequently, took over this payment.


Below is the year-wise expenditure for the period from 2011 to 2016:


2011-12: Rs 36.43 crore

2012-13: Rs 26.24 crore

2013-14: Rs 24.38 crore

2014-15: Rs 29.35 crore

2015-16: Rs 41.55 crore
