BJP Fails to Win in 12 Block Panchayats in Thrissur; Secures Only Five of 231 Seats

Thrissur: Voters in Thrissur district have delivered a clear mandate in favour of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the block panchayat elections. Of the 231 block panchayat divisions in the district, the LDF won 134 seats, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) secured 88. The NDA managed to win five seats, and independents emerged victorious in four divisions.

Out of the district’s 16 block panchayats, the LDF secured control in 10. The UDF was able to win only five block panchayats, while one block panchayat ended in a tie. The LDF registered victories in Anthikkad, Cherpu, Chovvannur, Irinjalakuda, Kodakara, Mathilakam, Ollukkara, Pazhayannur, Vellangallur and Wadakkanchery. The UDF won in Chalakudy, Chavakkad, Mala, Mullassery and Thalikulam. In Puzhakkal, where the UDF had won last time, the LDF managed to force a tie.

BJP Draws a Blank in 12 Blocks

Despite claiming a major breakthrough, the BJP-led NDA failed to open its account in 12 block panchayats in the district. Overall, the NDA managed to win only five seats across four blocks, out of a total of 231 divisions.
