Thiruvananthapuram holds the lead, followed by Kannur and Thrissur

Thiruvananthapuram: The State School Sports Meet witnessed intense competition among students on Thursday. Thiruvananthapuram leads the tally with 967 points, with young athletes from the district securing 109 gold, 81 silver, and 109 bronze medals. At the school level, St. Joseph’s School in Thiruvananthapuram tops with 111 points, followed closely by G V Raja Sports School with 101 points. Thrissur and Kannur are currently in second and third place overall, with 449 and 426 points, respectively.

By Thursday noon, the points standings of other districts were: Kozhikode – 405, Palakkad – 400, Ernakulam – 394, Malappuram – 335, Kollam – 209, Kasaragod – 194, Wayanad – 74, Alappuzha – 93, Kottayam – 74, Idukki – 57, and Pathanamthitta – 22.

Inclusive Sports saw Palakkad claim the overall trophy at the meet. Palakkad scored 90 points this year, winning 10 golds, 2 silvers, and 4 bronzes. Kozhikode finished second with 80 points, earning 4 golds, 7 silvers, and 2 bronzes, while last year’s champions, Thiruvananthapuram, placed third with 78 points, winning 4 golds, 8 silvers, and 2 bronzes. In athletics alone, Palakkad led with 54 points, winning 8 golds and 2 bronzes. Thiruvananthapuram secured second place with 46 points, achieving 2 golds, 6 silvers, and 2 bronzes, while Kozhikode took third with 36 points, earning 1 gold and 5 silvers.
