Kochi Hosts Skill Kerala Global Summit 2025: Focus on Employability and Talent Development

Kochi: The Skill Kerala Global Summit 2025, aimed at enhancing employability through skill development for students in higher education, was officially inaugurated at Grand Hyatt, Kochi. The event was opened by Higher Education Minister Dr. R. Bindu.
The government of Kerala also plans to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various companies, aiming for campus placements for at least 100,000 students during the 2025–26 academic year.
At the summit, Minister Bindu also launched the Kerala Talent Report 2025, prepared by career platform LinkedIn. The report had a comprehensive study on the capabilities of the state's youth, emerging trends in the job market, and global employment prospects.
The opening day featured sessions across six stages, covering topics such as education, employment, and the future of skill development. Scheduled discussions brought together students, educators, and industry leaders—drawing a crowd of over 1,500 participants.
Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Minister O.R. Kelu delivered a keynote address on "The Passion for Skill Acquisition." Local Self-Government Minister M.B. Rajesh presided over the session, while Industries Minister P. Rajeev also addressed the gathering.
Attendees included Karnataka Skill Development Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Vijnana Kerala campaign advisor Dr. T.M. Thomas Isaac, K-DISC Member Secretary Dr. P.V. Unnikrishnan, and Director P.M. Riyaz.
The summit is organised by the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC) as part of the state’s Vijnana Kerala initiative. The event will conclude with a valedictory session on Saturday at 4 PM, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal will chair the session.
