Kozhikode: A fresh case of Shigella infection has been confirmed in Kozhikode, with a nine-year-old child from Payyoli, Thurayur panchayat testing positive for the bacterial disease. The child's condition is currently reported to be satisfactory.


Kerala's public health situation remains a cause for concern, with Nipah, Shigella, and cholera all posing simultaneous threats across the state. The Health Department has issued a public advisory urging heightened vigilance, particularly in Kozhikode district where Shigella cases have been on the rise.
