Malappuram: The SFI District Committee has demanded strict action against those responsible for the death of Tejas, a Class 8 student at Presentation Higher Secondary School in Perinthalmanna, who died by suicide. The organisation has pledged to continue its fight until justice is delivered and authoritarian tendencies in educational institutions are ended, with strong agitation programs planned in the coming days.
In a statement, District Secretary N Adil and President M Sujin said Tejas was the latest victim of a management culture that places marks and grades above a student's life. When Tejas came to collect his Transfer Certificate, school authorities told him his Moral Science marks were low and directed him to rewrite the exam — a response the SFI described as inhuman. The statement alleged a pattern of physical and psychological abuse at the school, including being made to kneel as punishment and being barred from participating in the Annual Day celebrations — all of which systematically destroyed the child's self-confidence.
The organisation called for a public uprising against those who crushed the hopes and dreams of a family, and demanded that the school management be held accountable without compromise.
