Severed Leg Found in Alappuzha Likely from Kannur Train Accident Victim

Alappuzha: The human leg found on the tracks at the Alappuzha railway station is suspected to belong to a man who died in a train accident in Kannur, according to police. On Monday, Manoharan, a resident of Edakkad in Kannur, was killed after being hit by a train, and investigators confirmed that one of his legs had been severed in the accident. Police believe the limb discovered in Alappuzha is likely his.
The lower part of the leg was discovered around 10.30 am on Tuesday on Platform No. 2. Sanitation workers noticed it while a MEMU train from Ernakulam was being moved to the yard. They alerted the railway police, and officers along with forensic experts examined the spot. Initial assessment indicated that the remains were about two days old.
The MEMU train had completed a service from Kannur on November 17 before returning to Alappuzha the following day. Police suspect the severed leg may have got stuck in the train from Kannur and fallen onto the track when the train reached Alappuzha. A police team from Kannur is expected to arrive in Alappuzha today to continue the investigation.
