Postmortem Report of Savariya Murdered in Uzbekistan Indicates 24 Hours of Brutal Assault Before Death

The postmortem report of 21-year-old medical student Savariya Basant, who was murdered in Uzbekistan, indicates that she endured nearly 24 hours of brutal physical assault before her death, according to the preliminary findings of the Kerala Police based on the autopsy conducted at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.

The postmortem confirmed that the cause of death was a fatal head injury inflicted with a blunt object. The report also documented multiple bruises and contusions across her body, consistent with repeated beatings and kicking.

Police believe the injuries were sustained within 24 hours before her death and were the result of severe physical abuse. Investigators said no sharp weapons were used in the attack.

Haripad Station House Officer V Shibu said police suspect Savariya may have been confined inside a room during the assault. "It would have been difficult for anyone to endure such prolonged violence for 24 hours unless they were prevented from escaping," he said.

The SHO added that the chemical examination report of the internal organs is still awaited and is expected to provide further forensic evidence.

According to reports, Savariya was murdered by her classmate, Sadarul Anam, a native of Perinthalmanna in Kerala's Malappuram district, who struck her on the head. He is currently in police custody in Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Crime Branch has begun an investigation into the murder following a complaint filed by Savariya's parents. The probe was ordered by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, and Crime Branch ADGP Venkitesh has been entrusted with leading the investigation.
