Release of Kerala Story 2 Must Be Viewed With Utmost Gravity: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the release of The Kerala Story 2 should be viewed with “utmost gravity”, describing the film as a hate-mongering attempt aimed at damaging Kerala’s secular and inclusive social fabric.
In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said Kerala had already rejected the communal agenda and blatant lies spread through the first part of the film and would once again oppose efforts to demonise the state. He added that it was shocking how fabricated narratives aimed at inciting communal discord receive a free pass, while critical expressions of art are often silenced.
“We must stand united against attempts to paint our land of harmony as a hub of terror. The truth shall always prevail,” he said in the post.
The Chief Minister had also expressed concern earlier over the upcoming sequel, stating that the first film was made with the intention of spreading hatred against Kerala and weakening its long-standing secular tradition. He said organised campaigns had amplified what he described as a false narrative about the state.
The teaser of Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, was released recently, triggering renewed debate and strong reactions on social media. The first film had earlier won national awards for Best Direction and Best Cinematography at the 71st National Film Awards.
