Thiruvananthapuram: The FIR filed against MLA Rahul Mankootathil in a sexual abuse case has been made public. According to the FIR, he allegedly forced a woman to undergo an abortion. The complaint also states that the survivors range in age from 18 to 60. The FIR was submitted by the Crime Branch to the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. The case is based on complaints from five women.

The charges include forcing abortion, threatening women, mentally harassing them, and stalking them on social media. He has been booked under sections 78(2) and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and section 120 of the Kerala Police Act.

According to the investigating team, two women were forced to undergo abortions. One of them was reportedly taken to Bengaluru for the procedure against her will. The team will travel to Bengaluru to verify this. They have already collected details from the hospital where the abortion took place.

It is also learned that the first survivor and her relative were in contact with the second survivor. However, since there is no direct complaint regarding this, a separate case cannot be filed at this stage.

Investigators also suspect that Rahul Mankootathil and his supporters tried to influence or threaten the survivors to withdraw the case. The Crime Branch said they will take action if they receive a formal complaint about this.

The voice message allegedly linked to Rahul Mankootathil has also surfaced. Forensic tests will be conducted to verify if the voice is his. Rahul Mankootathil has not yet responded publicly to the latest developments, and no official statement has been released by his party. The case remains under active investigation.
