Congress MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil to Face Court as Custody Ends Today

Pathanamthitta: Congress MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil’s police custody ends today. He was sent to police custody in connection with a third rape case and will be produced before the Thiruvalla First Class Magistrate Court this afternoon. Mamkoottathil had been in police custody for three days. His anticipatory bail hearing has been postponed to January 16.

Yesterday, Rahul Mamkoottathil was brought to a hotel in Thiruvalla around 6 pm, near the KSRTC bus stand, where police conducted a search of Room 408. Authorities found evidence that Mamkoottathil had booked the room under the name “Rahul B R” on April 8, 2024, the date of the alleged incident. The MLA admitted that he had been to the hotel.

Following a 15-minute evidence verification, Mamkoottathil was brought back to the Pathanamthitta AR Camp. Due to widespread protests wherever the Congress MLA has been taken, police deployed extra personnel and took additional precautions to prevent any untoward incidents.
