Pathanamthitta Sessions Court to Deliver Verdict on MLA Rahul Mamkootathil’s Bail Plea on Sexual assault Case

Pathanamthitta: The Pathanamthitta District Sessions Court will deliver its verdict on Saturday on the bail plea of MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who is currently in jail in a sexual assault case. The Tiruvalla Judicial First Class Magistrate Court had earlier rejected Rahul’s bail application, dismissing all arguments raised by the defence. Following this, the accused approached the Sessions Court.

During the hearing on the bail plea at the Sessions Court the other day, the defence suffered a major setback, as the prosecution’s findings and references to higher court verdicts reportedly dismantled the defence arguments.

Rahul Mamkootathil was remanded to judicial custody on the 11th following a complaint filed by a Kottayam native who is a permanent resident abroad. The remand report also stated that the accused is a habitual offender and that his release could pose a threat to the life and safety of the survivors.
