Rahul Eashwar in custody for defaming a sexual assault victim

Thiruvananthapuram: Rahul Eashwar was taken in to custody by the Cyber Police here on Sunday. The victim, who had previously filed a sexual assault and forced abortion case against Rahul Mamkoottathil, lodged a complaint with the Cyber Police alleging that Rahul Eashwar had defamed her on public platforms.

Rahul Eashwar, a staunch supporter of Rahul Mamkoottathil and a representative of a men’s association, will be questioned by Cyber ACP at Nandavanam A R Camp. Police have seized his laptop, mobile phone, and other digital devices for investigation.

Eashwar had been actively posting against the victim across various platforms. In television discussions and online forums, he allegedly slandered the victim, expressed support for Rahul Mamkoottathil, and even disclosed the woman’s identity.

Meanwhile, Dr. P Sarin revealed that the disclosure of the victim’s identity was part of a conspiracy within a WhatsApp group comprising Congress leaders. The discussions reportedly took place in the Instant Response Team’s group, which manages the party’s social media posts and comments.

It appears that such conspiracies have emboldened individuals like Rahul Eashwar to reveal the victim’s identity and subject her to defamation and abuse.

Since the initial case against Rahul Mamkoottathil came to light, actress Rini has also been targeted with widespread cyber harassment.
