Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan said the Enforcement Directorate's agenda to put the CPI(M) and its top leaders in the dock and destroy them has been clearly visible from yesterday. This has been going on for quite some time, he said, adding that the party will move forward — both politically and organisationally — by confronting it head on. Keralam will not accept these fabricated stories, he told the media.

Govindan said the attempt to implicate the Leader of the Opposition and Mohammed Riyas is in a case that was examined and dismissed by both the Vigilance Court and the High Court. The party will fight all of this through legal means, he said, adding that it has always moved forward by facing adverse circumstances.

He said Congress has a double standard on the matter — the position it takes when cases come against Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi is entirely different from what it takes here. Some even asked why Pinarayi Vijayan has not been arrested. All this, he said, is an example of the deal between Congress and the BJP.

He alleged that what is happening is a politically motivated attempt to drag the CPI(M) into cases, with the ED saying only what suits its purposes. He noted that there had previously been widespread cases against the current Chief Ministers of Assam and West Bengal — and that they subsequently joined the BJP, after which all cases against them vanished. This, he said, is how the ED operates.

The ED is fabricating false cases without any evidence, taking political revenge, Govindan said, asserting that the party will not bow to such threats but will resist and march forward.
