Marxist Theoretician and Nuclear Scientist Dr M P Parameswaran Dies at 92

Thrissur: Marxist theoretician and nuclear scientist Dr M P Parameswaran (92) has died. He passed away at his residence in Thrissur.
Parameswaran was born in Kiralur village on January 18, 1935. He completed his electrical engineering studies at the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, and later earned a PhD in nuclear engineering from the Moscow Power Institute in Russia.
He worked as a scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre from 1957 to 1975. He resigned from the post following his association with the Communist Party.
Parameswaran was one of the founding leaders of the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad and the All India People's Science Network, a national organisation of science communicators. He played a key role in expanding the literacy movement at the national level.
He also portrayed the character of EMS in a documentary on the life of A K Gopalan, directed by Shaji N Karun.
