Kerala to Receive Light to Moderate Rainfall; IMD Issues Yellow Alert in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall for the next five days. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall from Thursday to Saturday. A yellow alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram district today due to the forecast of isolated heavy rain.
A low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the nearby Sri Lankan coast has intensified into a Deep Depression. It is likely to intensify into a cyclone within the next three hours. Over the following 48 hours, it is expected to move north–northwestward, travelling through the southwest Bay of Bengal and heading towards the northern Tamil Nadu–Puducherry and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts, according to the IMD.
At the Sabarimala Sannidhanam, there is a thunderstorm warning for today. The sky will remain partly cloudy. There is a chance of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms (up to 2 cm per hour) at one or two places. The Indian Meteorological Department also stated that isolated light rainfall is likely in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts in the next three hours.
