In Kannur’s Taliparamba region, an elderly woman was bitten by a snake while at a firewood storage area near her home. The victim, Narayani, was attacked around 3.30 pm and is currently undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. In a separate incident in the same locality, another resident, Nabeesa, who had been receiving treatment for a snakebite sustained near her home on Friday, succumbed to her injuries early this morning.
Meanwhile, in Thiruvananthapuram, a 14-year-old girl identified as Hanna Fathima from Moongode was bitten by a snake near her residence. She was promptly rushed to the General Hospital in the capital, where she is receiving treatment.
Another case was reported from Malappuram, where a 16-year-old girl, Shabha, a native of Kainode, suffered a snakebite in the vicinity of her family’s apartment. She has been admitted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital, and her condition is reported to be stable with no serious complications.
Health authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, especially during the ongoing hot weather conditions, which often drive snakes out of their natural habitats in search of cooler environments. Residents are advised to keep surroundings clean and seek immediate medical attention in case of snakebite incidents.
