Heavy Rain to Continue in Keralam, Yellow Alert in Five Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The rain that brought relief from the intense heat in Keralam is expected to continue today, according to the India Meteorological Department. A yellow alert has been issued in five districts — Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram.

Eight districts have been issued a yellow alert for tomorrow. They are Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

The IMD has warned of isolated heavy rain and winds gusting up to 40 kmph in some areas.

Rain is expected to continue until September 26, accompanied by winds of 30-40 kmph. The rainfall is being attributed to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

People along the Keralam, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts have been advised not to venture into the sea for fishing.

The warning states that the intensity of heavy rain is expected to ease after September 26.
