Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain is forecast across Keralam until Sunday. An orange alert has been issued in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts today in view of the possibility of intense rainfall.

A warning for heavy rain is in place across all districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.

The National Centre for Ocean Information Services has warned of possible coastal erosion due to high waves measuring 0.8 to 1.2 metres along the Thiruvananthapuram coast, from Kappil to Pozhiyoor, under the swell surge phenomenon. The warning is in effect from 2.30 pm on Thursday until 11.30 pm on Friday.

A similar warning has been issued for the Kanyakumari coast, where high waves measuring 0.9 to 1.2 metres could cause coastal erosion from 11.30 am today until 11.30 pm tomorrow.
