Kerala Surgeon Booked After Cloth Left in Patient’s Abdomen

Complainant Sheeba Pramod
Kazhakoottam: A case has been registered against a private hospital surgeon following a complaint that a piece of cloth was left inside a patient’s abdomen after surgery.
The Kazhakoottam Police filed the case against Dr. Prashanth, who works at CSI Mission Hospital.
The complainant, Sheeba Pramod, had undergone appendicitis surgery at the hospital on December 3 and was discharged on December 12. She later experienced worsening pain and sought treatment at another private hospital, where examinations revealed cotton and cloth left inside her stomach.
Sheeba returned to CSI Mission Hospital to have the material removed through corrective surgery. She subsequently lodged a complaint with the Kerala Chief Minister and the District Medical Officer, prompting police action.
