Fishing Ban Issued Along Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep Coasts Till Friday Amid Strong Winds and Rough Seas

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has advised that fishing activities should not be carried out along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep until Friday due to the possibility of strong winds and adverse weather conditions.


According to the warning, strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 60 kmph, are likely along the coastal areas.


The National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR) and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) have also warned of the possibility of coastal erosion and sea attacks along the Kerala coast due to the Kallakkadal phenomenon. High waves ranging from 0.8 to 1.4 metres are expected from 8:30 pm on June 11, 2026, to 11:30 pm on June 12, 2026.

Strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, are likely along the Somalia coast, Oman coast, adjoining central-western Arabian Sea, and southwestern Arabian Sea.


June 11–12, 2026:

The Lakshadweep region, areas adjoining the central-eastern Arabian Sea, and the Maldives region may experience winds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally up to 60 kmph, along with rough weather conditions.


June 11, 2026:

Strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally up to 60 kmph, are expected over the Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari region, Sri Lankan coast, northern Tamil Nadu coast, Andhra Pradesh coast, adjoining central-western Bay of Bengal, southern Bay of Bengal, adjoining central-eastern Bay of Bengal, and the Andaman Sea.


June 12, 2026:

Similar strong winds and rough seas are expected over the Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari region, Sri Lankan coast, southern Bay of Bengal, adjoining central and eastern Bay of Bengal regions, and the Andaman Sea.


June 13–14, 2026:

The central-eastern Arabian Sea adjoining the southeastern Arabian Sea may experience winds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally reaching 60 kmph.


June 13, 2026:

Strong winds are expected over the Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari region, Sri Lankan coast, southwestern Bay of Bengal, adjoining southeastern Bay of Bengal, central Bay of Bengal, and the Andaman Sea.


June 14–15, 2026:

The Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari region, Sri Lankan coast, southwestern Bay of Bengal, adjoining central-western Bay of Bengal, southeastern Bay of Bengal, and Andaman Sea may experience winds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally up to 60 kmph.


June 15, 2026:

Strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, are expected along the Somalia coast, southwestern and central-western Arabian Sea. The central-eastern Arabian Sea may also experience winds of 40 to 50 kmph, occasionally up to 60 kmph.


Authorities have advised fishermen and coastal residents to remain cautious and follow official weather warnings.
