Kanjirappally Murder-Suicide; Dispute Over Financial Transaction and Another Relationship Might Have Lead to the Incident

Kottayam: Mystery continues in the incident in which a woman and a man were found dead in Kanjirappally, Kottayam. The deceased have been identified as Shirley Mathew (45) of Morkkol and Job Zacharia, a native of Kummanam in Kottayam. Their bodies were discovered on Monday morning.
Shirley was found with her throat slit, while Job was found hanging inside the house.
According to local residents, Shirley, who was originally from Idukki, had moved to Kanjirappally about six months ago following the death of her husband. During this period, she reportedly developed a close relationship with Job. She initially lived in Changanassery before purchasing land in Kanjirappally and beginning construction of a house. Shirley was staying in a rented house at Kulappuram in Koovappally.
There are indications of financial dealings between Shirley and Job. A dispute reportedly arose after Job accused Shirley of having a relationship with another person. Following the altercation, Shirley had filed a complaint against Job at the Kanjirappally police station. The deaths occurred shortly thereafter.
The bodies were discovered after Shirley could not be reached by phone on Sunday night, prompting a search. She was found lying near the bed in the bedroom with her throat slit, while Job was found hanging from the staircase.
The preliminary conclusion is that Job killed Shirley and later died by suicide. However, police said that the exact circumstances remain unclear and that a detailed investigation is underway.
