New Delhi: Dr. John Brittas, Member of Parliament, has strongly opposed the Southern Railway's plan to take back a large part of the funds set aside for two important railway lines in Kerala — the Angamaly–Sabarimala line and the Tirunnavaya–Guruvayur line — for the 2025–26 financial year.
He has written to the Union Railway Minister and the Chairman of the Railway Board, asking them to cancel this move. Dr. Brittas said this isn't just about the Railways not spending the money, which has happened before, this time, they are officially trying to withdraw the funds altogether.
He warned that this could seriously hurt the development of railway projects in Kerala. He also pointed out that it’s not just Kerala that’s affected, some projects in Tamil Nadu are also facing the same problem.
Dr. Brittas called for urgent action to stop this recommendation and to make sure Kerala gets the full financial support it was promised. He stressed that the Railway Ministry should keep its word and speed up the work on these important projects.
