Dubai: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the visits undertaken as part of his Gulf tour have helped strengthen Kerala’s cooperation with several countries. During the tour, he held discussions with ministers and senior officials in five GCC nations, where the rulers expressed their willingness to support investments in Kerala across various sectors.

He added that the longstanding presence and contribution of the Malayali community have played a major role in building these ties. The Chief Minister was speaking at the Keralotsavam event organised by Orma at the Amity School Ground in Dubai.

He said Kerala has recorded significant growth across sectors over the past nine years. Development projects launched during 2016–2021 were implemented effectively due to administrative continuity, he noted, citing the National Highway development, the GAIL pipeline and the Edamon power grid as examples.

The national highway project began on the condition that Kerala would bear 25 percent of the land acquisition cost. The GAIL and Edamon–Kochi power highway projects have also been completed.

He added that the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission had helped modernise schools and strengthen the education sector. Kerala has also made advances in the IT and startup sectors. According to him, these developments reflect the benefits of sustained governance. The Chief Minister also attended Orma’s business meet on Monday, where the Orma Literature Festival logo was released.

Organising committee chairman Dr. K P Hussain presided over the event. Indian Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan, Minister Saji Cherian, Chief Secretary Dr. A Jayathilak and Norka Roots Vice Chairman M A Yusuff Ali spoke. N K Kunjumammad, member of the Pravasi Welfare Fund Director Board and general convener, welcomed the gathering, and Orma general secretary Shiju Basheer proposed the vote of thanks.
