Youngest Organ Donor Alin Sherin Abraham Laid to Rest; Last Rites Held With Official Honours from State

Mallappally: The funeral rites of Alin Sherin Abraham, Kerala's youngest organ donor, were completed with full official honors at St. Thomas Church in Nedungadapally. A large number of people gathered at her home in Mallappally to pay their last respects. Health Minister Veena George and Union Minister Suresh Gopi also visited her homw to honour her memories.

Alin, the daughter of Arun Abraham and Sherin Ann John from Mallappally, Pathanamthitta, met with a tragic accident while traveling by car from Kottayam to Thiruvalla via MC Road. The incident occurred near the Pallam Borma junction. She was critically injured and was initially admitted to hospitals in Changanassery and Thiruvalla before being transferred to Amrita Hospital in Kochi on February 7.

After being declared brain-dead on Thursday, Alin’s parents made the selfless decision to donate her organs. In doing so, Alin Sherin became the youngest organ donor in the state, contributing her liver, two kidneys, a heart valve, and two retina. This life-saving donation has given a second chance to five individuals.

Medical officials from KIMS Thiruvananthapuram Hospital recently announced the successful transplant of Alin’s liver to six-month-old Dhriya, marking a significant milestone in this act of generosity.
