CPI(M) Announces Campaign Against VB‑GRAM‑G Act and Support for Trade Union Strike

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby announced that the party will organize a major campaign against the new VB GRAM G act, which replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act. The campaign will run for a week, starting January 30 and ending on February 5.
Baby said the party will fully support the general strike called by the joint trade unions on February 12 against the implementation of the four labour codes. CPI(M) cadres will actively participate in the protests, expressing solidarity with the trade unions’ actions.
Addressing foreign policy issues, Baby said the party will also organize mass protests against the US aggression on Venezuela, involving all non-BJP political parties. He further condemned the continuing Israeli atrocities against Palestine, criticizing the newly announced “Board of Peace for Gaza” by the US as a tool for exploitation and profit, rather than for genuine reconstruction or ending the occupation. According to Baby, India’s foreign policy on Venezuela and Palestine is completely humiliating, aligning too closely with US hegemonic interests and undermining India’s strategic autonomy. He criticized India’s efforts to implement trade agreements with the US and European Union, saying such deals could harm Indian agriculture and industry and damage citizens’ livelihoods.
Baby emphasized that CPI(M) will continue a strong struggle against the BJP and Hindutva forces, while also strengthening the party’s independent influence in the country.
