Kochi: The High Court has stayed the release of Kerala Story 2, which allegedly portrays Kerala and the Muslim community in a negative light. The court has restrained the producers from releasing the film on Friday. The movie has been stayed for 15 days after the court found that the arguments presented by the petitioners against the film were valid. The court observed that if the movie is released, it may affect the religious harmony of the state.

The bench, headed by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, stated that the petitions seeking cancellation of the screening permission will remain pending, and that the Censor Board must review the film once again. The court also criticised the producers for not allowing the film to be screened before the court.

Kannur native Sreedev Namboothiri and Ernakulam native Fredy Francis filed the petition demanding the cancellation of the movie Kerala Story 2 and the removal of its teaser and trailer.
