BJP Leader C Krishnakumar Sparks Outrage by Justifying Attack on Christmas Carol Group in Palakkad

Palakkad: BJP leader C. Krishnakumar has courted controversy by justifying the alleged RSS worker's attack on a Christmas carol group in Puthussery, Palakkad, and by making derogatory remarks against the children involved. At a press conference, Krishnakumar claimed that the children had performed carols after consuming alcohol. Following sharp criticism and questions, the BJP leader later backtracked, stating that his remarks were made in a “general sense.”
The attack took place on Sunday night at Kalandithara in Kurudikkad, Puthussery. A Sangh Parivar group allegedly attacked a carol team without regard for the fact that they were students. When ten schoolchildren arrived in the area with Christmas carols and band instruments, RSS–BJP activists stopped them, threatened them, and warned them not to enter the locality. The attackers also smashed the musical instruments carried by the children. Terrified, the children informed local residents and later went to the police station along with them to file a complaint.
Following the complaint, Kasaba police arrested an active RSS–BJP worker in connection with the case. The accused has been identified as Ashwin Raj (24) of Kalandithara, Puthussery. Police have registered a case against him and he has been remanded to judicial custody after being produced before the court.
After a brief lull, BJP and RSS are once again accused of unleashing hate politics and violence in various parts of Puthussery panchayat, creating an atmosphere of fear. The lynching of Ramnarayan Bhayyal, a native of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, who was killed in a mob attack at Attappallam, Walayar, on the 17th, is also cited as a result of Sangh Parivar’s hate-driven politics. Both incidents occurred within a span of five days.
Ashwin Raj, arrested in the carol attack case, is reportedly an active RSS worker. The BJP’s heavy defeat in the Puthussery panchayat elections is said to have unsettled the Sangh Parivar, leading to an escalation in such incidents.
