Deir-Al Balah (Gaza Strip): Israel has continued its relentless assault on Gaza, killing at least 26 more Palestinians, including children and women, in overnight airstrikes. Among those targeted was a Hamas political leader, as Israel expanded its ground offensive into Rafah, further exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe.

With the latest deaths, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports the total Palestinian death toll has exceeded 50,000, with more than 113,000 wounded since the war began. Israel’s actions, justified under the guise of targeting militants, have primarily led to the mass killing of civilians. The latest strikes come after Israel unilaterally ended a ceasefire agreement, resuming its campaign of destruction across the besieged enclave.

Forced Displacement and Possible Ethnic Cleansing

The Israeli government has now approved a new directorate to facilitate what it calls the "voluntary departure" of Palestinians from Gaza—a move widely condemned as an attempt at forced expulsion. Human rights organisations have denounced this policy as a potential violation of international law, warning that Israel’s actions amount to ethnic cleansing.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the new entity will oversee "passage by land, sea, and air" for Palestinians to leave Gaza, effectively endorsing mass displacement. The military has ordered residents of Rafah’s Tel al-Sultan neighbourhood to evacuate once again, forcing civilians into squalid tent camps in Muwasi under the threat of Israeli gunfire.

Witnesses describe the desperate flight of thousands as “displacement under fire.” Mustafa Gaber, a journalist fleeing the area, reported that tank and drone attacks continued as families were ordered to move. “There are wounded people among us,” he said.

Massacres of Families, Attacks on Hospitals, and Blockade on Aid

Among the latest victims of Israel’s attacks are entire families, including young children. Gaza’s hospitals reported receiving the bodies of numerous civilians, many of them killed in their own homes. The European Hospital confirmed the deaths of five children and their parents in Khan Younis. The Nasser Hospital reported receiving the remains of two parents and their children, while two more children remained trapped under rubble. Palestinian emergency services say Israeli forces are blocking ambulances from reaching the wounded, further increasing the number of preventable deaths.

Despite international condemnation, Israel continues to deny responsibility for the staggering civilian casualties, instead blaming Hamas while persistently bombing one of the world’s most densely populated areas. Israel’s refusal to allow adequate humanitarian aid into Gaza has left millions without access to basic necessities.

Ceasefire Broken by Israel, Peace Efforts Undermined

Israel’s decision to unilaterally abandon the ceasefire has further destabilised the region. The truce, which had paused months of devastating violence, had allowed for hostage exchanges and an increase in humanitarian aid. However, Israel abruptly withdrew from the agreement, demanding further hostage releases without engaging in meaningful negotiations for a lasting peace. Mass protests have erupted across Israel, with thousands demanding their government prioritise the return of hostages over the continued military assault on Gaza. However, Israel’s far-right leadership remains committed to its scorched-earth approach, escalating the conflict at the cost of innocent Palestinian lives.

Global Outrage Grows

Israel’s war on Gaza has sparked worldwide condemnation. While the Israeli government justifies its actions as a fight against Hamas, the sheer scale of civilian suffering, indiscriminate bombings, and forced displacement paints a stark picture of war crimes. With over 50,000 Palestinians dead and an entire population facing starvation, Israel’s merciless assault on Gaza is increasingly seen as an act of genocide.

Despite international pressure, Israel continues to act with impunity, backed by the unwavering support of Western allies. Meanwhile, Palestinian civilians—trapped in an open-air prison—are left with no refuge, as the world watches a humanitarian catastrophe unfold in real time.
