Amazon Cuts 30,000 Jobs Since October 2025 as AI Reshapes Corporate Workforce

Global e-commerce giant Amazon has confirmed that it has laid off an additional 16,000 employees. Since October, the company has eliminated a total of 30,000 jobs as part of an ongoing cost-reduction strategy. The move is being carried out under the leadership of CEO Andy Jassy, with a focus on reducing bureaucracy, improving efficiency, and shifting more operations toward AI-driven systems.

Out of Amazon’s total workforce of approximately 1.58 million employees, the majority are employed in warehouses and fulfillment centers. However, the current layoffs affect nearly 10 percent of its corporate workforce. This marks the largest corporate job cut in Amazon’s three-decade history. The company has also indicated that further reductions may be considered if necessary.

Meanwhile, Amazon has decided to shut down its physical Fresh grocery stores and “Go” markets, and to discontinue the “Amazon One” palm-scan payment system.
