Former AIADMK Leader VK Sasikala Re-enters Politics with New Party

Chennai: VK Sasikala, former AIADMK leader and close aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has announced the launch of a new political party. The announcement was made during a public meeting in Ramanathapuram on the occasion of Jayalalithaa's birth anniversary.
Speaking at the event, Sasikala said, “We are going to witness a new political chapter. We are starting a new party.” She added that the party would follow the principles of the Dravidian movement and aim to root out enemies and cheaters.
Sasikala also unveiled the party flag, which features black, white, and red colors with images of prominent leaders Annadurai, MGR, and Jayalalithaa. The official name of the party is expected to be announced soon.
She recalled that after Jayalalithaa’s death in 2016, ministers and MLAs urged her to become Chief Minister. However, Sasikala said she had declined at the time due to personal commitments and allowed O Panneerselvam to continue as the state’s CM.
Sasikala, who was expelled from the AIADMK following a disproportionate assets case, is now re-entering the political arena ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, which is scheduled in the first half of this year.
