Patna: PK Sreemathi, CPI(M) Central Committee member and National President of the Mahila Association, had her bag and valuables stolen during a train journey from Kolkata to Samastipur in Bihar. The stolen items included 40,000 rupees in cash, a mobile phone, gold jewelry, and identification documents.

Sreemathi was travelling to participate in the Mahila Association’s conference at Dalsingh Sarai, accompanied by General Secretary Mariam Dhawala. They were in the Second AC compartment of the train.

The journey began at 8 PM, and the handbag kept on her seat was reportedly stolen around 4 AM. She discovered the theft around 6 AM after waking up.

Sreemathi immediately informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF). However, despite highlighting her position as a public representative from Kerala and a former minister, the local police initially refused to register the case, citing negligence on her part for leaving the bag unattended. Only after filing a complaint to higher authorities did the police agree to register the case. The Dalsingh Sarai police have now officially filed a case regarding the incident.
