New Delhi: IndiGo has told the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that it expects its flight operations to be stable and uninterrupted after February 10, marking the end of temporary regulatory exemptions that were granted amid a period of widespread flight disruptions last December. The airline has assured the regulator that no cancellations will be necessary beyond that date once current staffing plans and operational adjustments take effect.

IndiGo’s commitment comes after a turbulent few weeks for the carrier, which faced extensive delays and cancellations in December 2025 linked to challenges in managing crew rosters under newly introduced Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules. The disruption affected thousands of passengers, prompting sharp oversight from the DGCA and a temporary easing of some crew duty restrictions to help the airline stabilise services.

In recent meetings with civil aviation officials, IndiGo presented data showing it now has sufficient pilot and crew numbers for its approved flying schedule. The airline pledged that, with its current flight network and personnel strength, it does not foresee further cancellations once the FDTL exemptions — which allowed it some flexibility with crew rest requirements — are lifted in early February.

The DGCA and the airline have been in regular discussions to monitor improvements, with the regulator reviewing weekly and fortnightly operational reports to track crew availability and performance. Authorities noted that the corrective steps taken by IndiGo should help bring its services in line with regulatory standards and reduce the disruption experienced by travellers late last year.

IndiGo’s assurances aim to restore passenger confidence after the airline’s performance stumbled during a critical travel period. The company has also been subject to regulatory scrutiny, including a fine issued earlier this month over the December cancellations. Observers say the latest commitments, if upheld, could mark a turning point for the carrier’s operational reliability.

Passengers and industry watchers will be watching closely in the coming weeks as the airline transitions back to full compliance with DGCA norms and seeks to leave behind the disruptions that rocked India’s civil aviation sector late last year.
