New Delhi: The Delhi Education Department has ordered schools to shift classes up to Class 5 to a hybrid mode, allowing students to attend either offline or online classes, as air pollution in the national capital reaches a severe level. The decision follows the implementation of Stage III restrictions by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).

Students can attend classes either in person at school or online, depending on their convenience.

The order applies to government, government-aided, and recognised private schools under the Delhi Education Department, as well as institutions operating under the New Delhi Municipal Council, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and Delhi Cantonment Board.

School authorities have also been directed to inform parents about the hybrid learning arrangement.

The hybrid classes have been made mandatory to safeguard children's health while ensuring that their education is not disrupted. Strict restrictions have also been imposed on construction activities that generate dust, mining and stone-crushing units.
