NIA Releases Detained Doctors After Red Fort Suicide Blast; Key Aide of Bomber Arrested

New Delhi: After confirming that the explosion in Delhi's Red Fort was a suicide bombing, the NIA investigation team has released five people who had been taken into custody over the past few days, including four doctors. Those released are Rehan, Muhammad, and Mustaqeem — doctors from Nuh in Haryana; a surgeon from Pathankot in Punjab; and Dinesh, a fertilizer seller from Haryana. The investigation found that the doctors who worked at Al Falah University had no connection with the terror activities carried out by Umar, the suicide bomber.
On Sunday, the NIA conducted searches related to the case in Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Reports indicate that Umar had stayed in a rented house in Nuh, Haryana, for ten days prior to the explosion. Meanwhile, police recovered three bullets from the area around Red fort, where the blast occurred.
Umar’s aide arrested
The NIA on Sunday arrested Aamir Rasheed Ali, a Kashmir native suspected to be an aide of Dr. Umar Nabi, who carried out the suicide bombing. Aamir was arrested in Delhi. Reports suggest that the car that exploded was registered in Aamir’s name. Meanwhile, Haryana native Dr. Priyanka Sharma was taken into custody by police from Anantnag in Jammu & Kashmir.
According to reports by national media, Priyanka had been under surveillance by the investigation team since the arrest of Dr. Adeel Rathar in the initial stages of the probe. An MBBS student from Jammu & Kashmir Medical College has also been detained.
34 vehicles seized in Delhi
Following the Red Fort explosion, extensive inspections continue across central Delhi and nearby areas. Police seized 34 unattended parked vehicles in central Delhi and issued fines to 417 vehicles. Armed police have been deployed in busy market areas as well.
Individuals raising suspicion are being detained and questioned. Police are also coordinating with business establishments and residents' associations. Random checks are being conducted, and coordination meetings are taking place continuously, said Joint Commissioner (Central Range) Madhur Verma.
